This year is absolutely flying by, it's almost May already which means the albums I’ve been waiting for are starting to come thick and fast. But that is still a week away from beginning, fortunately we still have some awesome things to share, such as:
It seems Matt is a lot like myself, I can’t stand the Fast and the Furious franchise either. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the first two films but after that, it was all shite. Fortunately, he has recommended an alternative car themed movie for us. Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive. According to Matt this film has it all, check out his full review HERE.
Wednesday I got another chance to dive into London’s underground music scene with Junk Antique’s debut album Magic Water. I loved every second of it too, it’s the perfect mix of grungy rock that never fails to draw the listener in. I can’t wait to see these dudes live, check out my thoughts on Magic Water HERE.
While yesterday Mags finally shared her review of the epic South Korean zombie film Train to Busan. We’d both heard nothing but great things about Busan so it was time we finally watched it. Highly recommended to fans of horror, zombies and Asian cinema. Read Mag’s piece HERE.
Even though I haven’t reviewed a Mel Brooks film yet, I still consider myself a massive fan of the dude, everything he does is comedic gold. So when I heard rumours last year he finally wanted to do a follow up to his 1987 hit Spaceballs, I lost my shit. Talk has died down, but has sprung back up recently after news came to light that Brooks is currently in talks with Sony for the release date, with Brooks himself wanting just after the 3rd Star Wars sequel trilogy film, so late 2019. He has stated he want as many of the surviving cast members back. I can’t wait for Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.
Sticking with film news, we’ve finally heard when Deadpool 2 will be with us, while it was hinted at a February release it's now confirmed The Merc With a Mouth will be gracing the big screens from the 1st of June 2018. A long time yes, but if it's as good as the first then def worth the wait.
Now for you horror fanatics out there, Taissa Farmiga, star of a couple of the American Horror Story seasons has been cast in the Conjuring 2 spinoff about the Nun, James Wan joked about the reveal on twitter stating “Goal is to work with all the Farmigas”. Older sister Vera has worked on the two Conjuring films, while Taissa has been cast as the titled demonic Nun, I’m now interested in this.

We all have some sort of guilty pleasures, one of mine is films I really shouldn’t enjoy, I do. Not everything but a certain some. One of those movies was Kingsman, it was ridiculous and over the top, but it made me laugh and the plot was passable. Well the sequel isn’t too far away, September this year, the trailer finally dropped, and… I’m excited again.
On the music front we heard the latest single from Of Mice & Men, who have reshuffled bassist Aaron Pauley into the microphone hotspot. ‘Unbreakable’ comes across as a message from the band to the fans, stating their intentions to continue on stronger. While it’s a decent track, it feels like the group has lost a bit of soul. To be fare loosing a founding member can hurt and it is OM&M’s first musical offering since Carlile’s exit. I am eagerly awaiting the next full length before I pass full judgement.
