Welcome yet again to another one of our fantastic Triple R’s. The place we look back at the week that was, with a recap of what we’ve checked out and what upcoming releases and events that’s gotten us excited. Theres plenty to read about so let's not waste anymore time.
How can people 'Boo' this film?
Wednesday saw Matthew tell us about The Sea of Trees, a film that seems to be copping a lot of grief since its release, but from what I’ve read it looks really interesting with some stellar acting. Make up your own mind by checking out the review HERE of this thought provoking movie set in the infamous Aokigahara (better known as Suicide) Forest.
Welcome back Punk, I've missed you.
After almost two months of not reviewing music in any shape or form, I finally got back on the horse that led me to start this website. Hightower’s Club Dragon is an awesomesauce Punk Rock album that held my attention from start to finish. These boys from Paris are truly gifted musicians and deserve to be heard - read what else I thought about Club Dragon HERE.
Who says you can out grow your toys?
Finally we have Mags’ look at the new Cult of Chucky, a film which went straight to DVD, Blu-Ray and streaming, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t any good. In fact Mags really enjoyed the latest Child’s Play movie for several reasons, find them all HERE.
I hear these dudes put on an amazing show.
As I was preparing this week's Roundup I discovered one last minute story that I just had to include, which is the news that 30 Seconds to Mars just announced a UK tour, with the band releasing the details just yesterday morning. The Jared Leto led group will be performing in Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, London and finally Birmingham in late March of next year, tickets go on sale 9am on Friday the 13th of October.
Who's your pick?
Located on the shore of Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio, the Rock and Roll Hall of fame recognizes the history most influential notable figures who made rock and roll amazeballs. This year the nominees are: Bon Jovi, Kate Bush, The Cars, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils BAnd, Judas Priest, LL Cool J (WTF!), MC5, The Meters, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray and The Zombies. You can head to the Rock and Roll's website HERE and cast your vote, you have until the end of November before the ballot closes, before the induction ceremony in April 14th 2018.
Now we all know I love my adult cartoon series, one that seems to fly under most people’s radar is Bob’s Burgers, a piss funny show about a normal man and his wife running a fast food store and their 3 wacky kids, it doesn’t sound like an amazing premise but trust me the show grows on you. Anyway the big news surrounding Bob's Burgers is 20th Century Fox (the network which runs the awesome series) has ordered a full length film, with a release date for July of 2020, a long wait I know but at least I know it will be worth it.
Will he Guaran-DAMN-tee our entertainment?
I found out earlier this week that there will be a Vince McMahon biopic made soon, for those of you who don’t know this man, he is the owner of the WWE, the largest professional wrestling and entertainment company in the world. The movie will be called Pandemonium and will tell the story of the rise of Vince, from a low ringside commentator to CEO and his plans to make the WWE the industry dominator. Rumour has it Bradley Cooper has been approached to take on the title role, I guess he looks a bit like a young Vince, this is something I’m going to keep an eye on.
"Governments should be afraid of their people"
A few weeks back we reported that HBO in the US is working on a Watchmen tv show, well it seems Channel 4 over here in the UK heard about that and said “Hold my beer” since it has been rumoured and unofficially confirmed that the British station is currently developing V for Vendetta into a series. There is currently no information yet so this will be a long time coming, but I’m excited, the original plot is a great outlandish political revenge story, if handled well this could fill the gap left by Game of Thrones.
Goodbye free time!
Stranger Things not only is coming back for season 2 and confirmed for season 3, but now we can be in the Upside Down forever and ever with a game that you can download on your phone - Let me tell you the best news first: the game is available from right now for both Android and iOS and is FREE (with no even microtransactions)! ST:TG is developed by indie game studio BonusXP and has a NES kinda graphic to it – you will be playing as your favourite character that each one has specific abilities (for example Nancy has a bunch of bats to choose from), and of course the locations will also be familiar, the story not so much but who cares?! There are fights and there’s puzzles to solve but mostly I hope as Eleven you can throw shit around.
Dead Men's Trousers AKA the future T3
After the success of Trainspotting and Porno (AKA T2) books and films alike, a new Irvine Welsh novel called Dead Men's Trousers will be out on the 20th of March 2018 and will follow once again the lives of Renton, Begbie, Sick Boy and Spud. Mark is now a successful business man but he’s fed up with his empty life, Begbie seems like he’s found some inner peace as an artist and Spud and Sick Boy… well, they’re up to no good as per usual, this time harvesting organs. Sounds like it’s gonna be a really cool book, right? WRONG! In fact, before the last page one of our beloved characters will be dead! WTF!!! I hope we don’t have to wait another 20 years for the movie to come out and everybody that needs to be involved start clearing some space in their diary ASAP.
The notorious pairing of two of the best MC's on the planet Heavy Metal Kings which is Ill Bill and Vinnie Paz have returned with a new album Black God White Devil that's dropping at the end of October. The first single is "Mercyful Fate" which has a must see video for hiphop heads or anyone that's into true crime and serial killers.
