It’s been a controversial week for us here at Ronon’s Reviews, we’ve reviewed two films that have divided both the masses and the critics and we have taken sides. We also have your usual roundup of awesomeness that’s got us frothing at the mouth so let’s get stuck in shall we?
Due to this being a two-review week, we kicked things off on Thursday with Mags’ thoughts on It Comes At Night, the film that has divided the horror community. Without giving the plot away this is a psychological thriller that needs to be seen, check out her piece HERE, spoiler free of course.
For Friday, I brought to you my thoughts on mother!, a film that will confuse the shit out of you if you don’t spot the hidden theme. But once you’ve seen it and figured it out, you need to see it again and again to find all the little Easter eggs. Check out my review with a small amount of spoilers HERE.
The book The Sex Pistols - 1977: The Bollocks Diaries – The inside story of the year that changed everything will be published on the 26th October 2017 and is going to tell how Never Mind The Bollocks came to life, the drama behind it, tales of the first gigs and rare pictures from the Pistols archives. But the good news about the godfathers of punk aren’t over. One day later, on the 27th, the deluxe edition of the one and only release from the band will be reissued to celebrate the record’s 40th anniversary. The box set will include: Disc 1: the album, Disc 2: Rarities, Demos & Outtakes, Disc 3: 1977 Live in Norway and Sweden, Disc 4: 1977 footage of 3 more gigs, 3 music videos and an interview with Sid and Johnny plus a 48-page hardback book and rare photos. Not a bad treat for the fans of the group, uh?
It's been reported last week that the Terminator franchise will be rebooted soon, not so surprising since that is Hollywood’s thing in the last couple of years. But what has caught us off guard is the fact that Linda Hamilton (Sarah Conner from the first two films) has been confirmed to be returning, so this sounds less of a remake but a sequel that ignores the last couple of films that have been released. I can live with this, welcome back Linda!

In former Soviet Russia, film bans you.
One of the trailers before mother! was for a film called The Death of Stalin, an awesomesauce looking piss take at the events that happened after the real life passing of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. But the thing that makes me laugh at the moment is that Russia is considering banning this movie from their theatres. Didn’t Russia being a communist nation end back in the early 90’s?
Watch this and you've seen half the film.
While Mags hates “10 minute trailers” I think they can be awesome-motherfucking-sauce. The one that has got me excited is for Blade Runner 2049. A sequel to the cult classic from the 80's that we've been wanting and waiting for years. Check this out and try and tell me you're not even just a little bit thrilled.
Chapter 3 is officially going to happen. If you, like many other people love the bad ass hit man, dog loving, John Wick adventures, you will have to wait until May 2019, to see what shenanigans he will get himself into this time around. There’s not much info on the actual plot just yet, but director of the first two instalments Chad Stahelski is back and stated that John Wick: Chapter 3 ‘isn't necessarily going to be bigger than Chapter 2, but it is going to be more intense’ he also added that ‘We are going to put in something about the High Table, how that all works - We’re going to put in something about where John comes from, and where he wants to go. I don’t want to say too much more, but it will be a nice completion to Mr Wick’s journey’ … to me sounds like they want to wrap up his story. If you are not already a fan of the franchise, see what you’ve missing out on with AJT reviews on John Wick and Chapter 2.
Now we all love Netflix (those that have it anyway) here at Ronon’s Reviews, but for us gamers, we've just gotten a little closer to something like that with the announcement of Jump, a subscription service that is trying to emulate the success that the online streaming services has had in films and TV series. The current deal is US$10 for access to 60+ indie games. Sounds good to me, might have to sign myself up soon.
You might know Gucci Mane as the Atlanta rapper with an ice cream tat on his face, but now you can discover Gucci the writer and find out all about his life in his autobiography that came out on the 19th of September. From his early years in Alabama, the move to the ATL, the trap life, success and everything in between, the rapper was pushed by friend Harmony Korine (remember Guwop in Spring Breakers?), into writing a memoir, and looks like Gucci is loving this new enterprise quite a lot since he’s already planning another book and even a screenplay. But what I'm really looking forward now is to listen to the new album, since Mr. Davis is dropping on the 13th of October! Gucci isn’t done yet as his BET reality television show called The Mane Event with Keyshia Ka’oir, is out on October 17, the same day as their wedding. Burrr!
Comin Straight Outta Pennsylvania is the Moola Gang Cash Cows who just dropped the street album Holy Cow. The group consists of Pyrex Pre$$, Luke-O and Kilz and the song/video featured is Volcano.
