Howdy faithful followers new and old, it’s been a very quiet week for us due to being busy with other things, but we take the highs with the lows here. Fortunately, we have some big mentions to make up for it. So, let’s roll though what you may have missed this week both on the reviews and news.
We started late this week with Mags and her review of season 3 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Thursday, the highly successful comedy series made by and for Netflix. This show is that good we binged the whole lot in two and half sittings, we would have done it in one but sleep is sadly a necessity. Check out her write up HERE.
Yesterday saw my look at Papa Roach’s 9th studio album Crooked Teeth. This one was hard for me because I’ve loved this band since I first heard them 17 long years ago and I just wasn’t feeling this record. Sure, it has some great tracks but as a whole it just wasn’t their best. Read the full review HERE
Still on Warner Bros, they have announced the director of the upcoming Jetsons movie. Yeah, I didn’t know that was on the table either. But they have chosen wisely in my opinion, Conrad Vernon. If you’re not sure of his work, watch Shrek 2 or better yet Sausage Party. While details of the film are scarce, one thing keeps coming up, it will be animated, not live action which I would have hated, it’s happening way too much these days.
Another film that just had its director announced is Godzilla vs King Kong. Even though there is still another movie, Godzilla: King of Monsters to happen before this one, it’s still all that I hear about. With its release date set for mid-2020 Adam Wingard has plenty of time to get this right. I have faith in him though, he has some serious horror experience under his belt, contributing on anthologies such as the two V/H/S's and the first The ABC's of Death, rebooting Blair Witch and giving us everybody's favourite: You're Next.

If you ever wanted to watch an Ocean’s Eleven but crossed with a Coen brothers film then I have something for you: Steven Soderbergh’s next project Logan Lucky. Brief setup is two dim-witted brothers plan a heist of a NASCAR race. While that doesn't mean too much to me it’s the cast that got me excited. We have Channing Tatum (eye candy for the ladies, actually piss funny for us blokes), Adam Driver (this dude can do it all, comedies and serious, just read Matt’s Silence), Daniel Craig with a shocking blonde dye job. It also features Katherine Waterston (Alien Covenant), Hilary Swank and Seth MacFarlane.
Just check out the trailer.
On the TV side of things, Tuesday saw the return of the Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright led masterpiece, House of Cards, president Frank Underwood is back and this time is fighting an election the only way he knows how: dirty. All joking aside this is one of the most intelligent shows I’ve seen in years and has reinvigorated my interest in politics, scary thing is it's even starting to mirror real life, I advise everyone to check this series out. Spacey fucking kills it.
Finally, for all you Xbox one players out there, during this weekend only, FIFA 17 will be a free download for all gold members. I've heard nothing but great things about this game so I’ll be getting this one, hell, might even review it sometime soon.
