When people ask “What music do you like?” do you respond with “Fuckin brutal”? If that’s your answer, then I’ve got the band for you.

As I admitted before this isn’t my chosen genre but damn if it grows on you as long as you have an open mind. I wasn’t overly impressed with the vocals, not that I’m saying it’s shit, they are ok but nothing to rave about. Musically it's amazing, with one of the big standouts being ‘Army of Chaos’, its drumming is better than anything I’ve heard Joey do before, the riffs while not mind blowing are still bloody good and are a perfect fit with the song. While ‘Army’ is more of a high speed track, ‘Dead Souls’ is slowed right down, the guitar licks are pretty sweet also, this was on repeat quite a bit. The rest of the album is packed with some killer tunes but those two are the best by far.
To sum up, while Death Metal isn’t my favourite genre, Sinsaenum’s Echoes of the Tortured really grew on me. It’s a brutal journey with some of Death Metal's best joining forces and taking no prisoners, while every second track is an instrumental they’re still quite hard core and really show off the high amount of talent that this group of musicians has. So to all the lovers of metal of the Death and Heavy variety, get this album, if you’re looking to go heavy, this is a great record to start with since the genres best are here, trust me.
