The concept behind Sevendust’s 11th studio album is simple, it’s a return to their heavy basic roots. Kill the Flaw is similar in sound though just not as heavy as 97’s self titled album, with a few pleasant new surprises. This album is the perfect return to form.

What was released a week ago on the 2nd of October was worth the wait after the tease back in July. “Chop” brings the infusing of their acoustic and heavy sounds together perfectly and is one of my favourites. Following right after on the album is the title track “Kill the Flaw” with again hints of Sevendust’s signature sounds the song rocks along to Morgan Rose’s pounding drums and really makes it his own. The album ends on the magnificent “Torched”, by far the heaviest track and my favourite off the album, it’s the perfect headbanger.
Sevendust have really brought the noise this time and released an amazing album that throws back to their glory days of old. I’m not saying that their previous albums were rubbish, far from it they were great. But Kill the Flaw returns them back to the sounds of 1997-2003 which I believed to be their best years personally. The old signature sound is back, the acoustic brilliance is there and they mix perfectly to form this awesome album. I’m looking forward to seeing if the band will announce UK tour dates, until then I highly recommend this album to die hard fans, newcomers and even rock and heavy metal fans. Go out and give Kill the Flaw a listen, you might love it as much as I do.
