Don't buy into the negativity!!
The Sea of Trees is something most moviegoers will dismiss due to the bad hype and the low rating on IMDb – but looks can be deceiving. I'll never understand how this film was booed at Cannes Film Festival, it's mind boggling. If a movie with the star power of Matthew McConaughey, Naomi Watts and Ken Watanabe is getting booed then the world makes a little less sense.
Directed by the awesome Gus Van Sant, The Sea of Trees is a story about a depressed American
A story told in flashbacks, this movie is a marvel of cinematography and film making. The forest itself is a major character in the telling of the story. Aokigahara is well known for the mass amount of people that go in to commit suicide. Some say the area is haunted and cursed, which is why the forest is the big antagonist of the story and will do anything to keep Arthur and Takumi from leaving the place. The woodland itself is very depressing and dull, which is how it should be. At times I thought I was watching a more realistic take on the Blair Witch.

'You must know, this forest is very powerful.'
Trivia: Aokigahara Forest near Mount Fuji in Japan, otherwise known as the "Suicide Forest" sees an average of 3 suicides a week.
