FD is centred around Dory and her quest of finding her parents, with the help of Marlin, Nemo and a few old and new aquatic friends and all the shenanigans in between. Is not surprising that Dory was going to be the protagonist of the sequel as she is hilariously funny in FN, but a movie about her becomes a tad annoying – there is a limit to how many memory loss jokes I can find amusing. Best moment of the whole movie is near the end when ‘What a Wonderful World’ started playing, the one and only laugh out loud moment, that as magical as it was, was too little too late to redeem this film for me.
Apart from the repetitive gags and interchangeable plot there are a few characters that stand out: Bailey the beluga whale is entertaining with his whole ‘gift’ storyline and Becky the loon (unfortunately she was only the smaller version of the Nigel the pelican from FN) brought the creepiness I always enjoy. Dory’s parents on the other hand are the most annoying fish ever conceived, a couple of overprotective knobs who’s goal in life is to make sure their daughter thinks her shit smells like flowers.
If you have been living under a rock and you have never seen FN before you probably will enjoy this flick, on the other hand, if you did watch FN at least once (for me the count is closer to 10), there is no way in hell you can miss all the similarities. To the four people that got paid mega bucks to come up with nothing original, you are no better than if you were running unauthorized Gucci sweatshops doing rip off Gucci shoes. Shame on you!
But most importantly: where were the sharks??!!
