Hell yes! Today I get to write about one of my personal favourite occult movies as The Craft is turning 20 years young.
The reason we all love this flick so much, apart from the fact that we all would like to be able to do magic stuffs, is that this is a film about finding friends that have similar interests as you (in this case sorcery), bonding with them (over putting curses on people) and most importantly have someone who you can be weird (and murder people) with.
The Craft might have been trashed by the critics when it came out, but the love of its fans gave it a cult classic status, that 20 years later still maintains all the elements that made us fall for it in the first place.
The acting is amazing from all (I especially love Fairuza, whom with her million expressions, would still be a credible actress if she was mute), special effects were very convincing for the time (apart from the snake and bugs on the climax scene, they were all real), fashion and soundtrack are so ‘90 it makes me want to stop wearing a bra and listen to some Heather Nova. The only sad thing is knowing that the only award the movie ever won was Best Fight between Nancy and Sarah at the MTV movie awards.
The Craft has a remake coming up and yes, we are all outraged by it, but it still won’t change the fact that no one can take away this 20 year old classic away from us as we can still binge watch it until the end of times… yes, after all these years we are proud to still be the weirdos, mister!
